[FACT] THE USA RANKS #27 IN THE WORLD FOR EDUCATION…….
Don’t leave the future of your child in the hands of the school district. Studies show reading in the first years of a child’s life is directly tied with future education, career, and overall quality of life.
Unfortunately, the school system does not have the resources to change the current mode of teaching children to read. It operates on a system implemented in the 1930’s based on reading sight words. This unnecessarily delays the rate at which children learn to read and causes further frustration for certain children who become too confused.
Sarah Shepherd was an English teacher of 14 years and wife and mother of 3, when her st grade son came home with his report card. The teacher had left a note that said her son “did not meet average expectations.” As an English teacher, she was horrified!
You see, the way schools teach children to read is to memorize words as whole shapes. So children are learning words by memory, instead of how to differentiate between the actual sounds. Well, there are only so many words they can memorize!
There are 44 sounds in English. Reading Head Start teaches children to learn the sounds, rather than memorize thousands of words.
